Chapter 653

Capture Him

Chapter 653 Capture Him

A pair of eyes were hidden in the gap!
Perhaps it was the practice of the Heart-Rending Mantra that had given rise to some terrifying associations. The student who saw those eyes gasped sharply, as if an invisible hand had suddenly gripped his throat, and all the sounds were stuck in his chest.

……

Draco was distracted by the sounds coming from Nott's side and didn't realize that he had been discovered.

He watched the crowd torturing the rats with the Crucifixion Curse, his jaw tightening, and he unconsciously gripped his wand.

The wand trembled incessantly in his hand.

To be honest, he had imagined countless times in his mind how he would torture Crabbe, Goyle, Blaise, Weasley, Porter, and others with the Cruciatus Curse, fantasizing about them kneeling at his feet, crying and begging for mercy.

But when he actually saw a life writhing and convulsing on the ground, and heard that extremely painful, intermittent scream, Draco swallowed involuntarily, his face paler than usual, even faintly tinged with a bluish-white.

Cold sweat streamed down his forehead, landing with a "plop" on the dirty pipe.

……

The eye in the slit blinked, and there seemed to be dark red blood vessels in the crease of its eyelid.

Fear instantly seeped into every part of the body like a burst of ice water, and the student, whose legs went weak, let out a heart-wrenching scream—

"Ah—there are eyes, there are eyes!"

The screams echoed wildly in the narrow space, startling several people who were nearby, and many more looked in the direction he was pointing.

Draco reacted a beat too slow, and by the time he hurriedly scrambled backward, many people had already witnessed those hidden eyes.

Unlike the student who was startled earlier, the others didn't make any horrifying connections; instead, they quickly realized—

"Someone's peeping! Catch him!"

"boom--!"

As Draco crawled rapidly, he heard the wire mesh at the pipe opening behind him explode open. Someone climbed up, peered inside, and shouted, "There he is! I see him!"

He pointed his wand inside and shouted, "All Stone... cough cough cough cough!"

A pearly white figure suddenly drifted through the middle of the pipe. Myrtle held her breath, causing the dust that had accumulated in the pipe for who knows how many years to be blown up, choking the person and making him cough repeatedly. The spell she was about to cast was also cut short halfway through.

He blocked the entrance, preventing others from attacking him, which allowed Draco to climb over the bend, making it impossible for straight-through spells to hit him.

Myrtle floated beside Draco, her translucent body spinning sideways as she chuckled, "How about that? If it weren't for me, you would have been caught by them!"

"Don't talk, hurry up..."

Before Draco could finish speaking, he suddenly turned around and saw a thick cloud of black smoke billowing and chasing after him!

"Damn it! These guys aren't going to let me go!"

He cursed hoarsely, a flicker of terror in his cold gray eyes, and crawled quickly on all fours, but the smoke still caught up with him.

He let out a series of heart-wrenching coughs:
"Cough cough cough... These... cough cough... madmen..."

"Don't be afraid!"

Myrtle floated beside him like she was swimming, most of her body overlapping the stone wall. She said urgently, "Come with me! I know there's an exit here!"

……

"Viper" was Perth Rosen, a seventh-year Slytherin student. He turned around, his cold eyes looking at everyone in the room.

Behind him, at the entrance to the pipe, several hastily torn robes and some students' backpacks were burning in the flames. Another Slytherin student was casting a spell, directing the thick smoke in the direction the peeping tormentor had fled. "He's been seen."

Rosen said slowly, "That guy saw us practicing the Unforgivable Curse here. If he reports it to Dumbledore, everyone here will be expelled, and might even end up in Azkaban!"

Everyone panicked and said, "What do we do now?"

Some people, clinging to a sliver of hope, said: "I... I didn't actually take off my hood just now..."

The student who revealed his true identity immediately sneered: "If someone here gets caught, do you think he'll help you hide your identity?"

Everyone fell silent for a moment.

Everyone knows the character of the people around them, so talking about loyalty, righteousness, or promises is just overthinking it.

Moreover, even if one wants to keep a secret, there's no way to do so, as there are simply too many ways to get someone to reveal it.

“Grab him!” Perth Rosen said grimly. “As long as we catch that guy before he betrays us, our secret won’t be exposed!”

Wade nudged Antoine, who raised his voice and asked, "After we capture him, how do we ensure he doesn't leak information?"

Pansy said with a sinister expression, "Perhaps there's only one way..."

She didn't finish speaking. She looked at the others and added, "But if a student dies at school, it could lead to even more serious problems."

Someone countered, "When Myrtle died at school, wasn't the matter simply dropped?"

“I don’t need to kill him,” Rosen said. “I can make him forget everything.”

The Forgetting Curse is also a dangerous spell. A wizard who doesn't know how to use it properly might steal too many memories at once, or even damage the brain.

But forgetting things that shouldn't be remembered is far more merciful than killing someone outright.

This sudden change solidified even the wavering students' resolve, with one shouting, "I know the tracking spell, follow me!"

The others immediately followed and rushed out of the secret room.

After leaving the house, Wade tugged at Antoine and whispered quickly, "Find a way to create some obstacles for them and buy them some time."

Antoine blinked. "You're going to save that peeping Tom? Is he your friend?"

“Not a friend,” Wade said. “That’s Draco Malfoy.”

Wade didn't care about Malfoy's situation in Slytherin or whether he would be tortured by these newly emerged vipers.

But his father, Lucius Malfoy, was sitting in Dumbledore's office upstairs not long ago! He might even become an ally of the Order of the Phoenix. At a time like this, he can't let his precious son get into trouble at school.

Watching Vader quickly leave via another route, Antoine blinked and gently waved his wand hidden in his robe.

The student in front suddenly "accidentally" tripped and fell. Several people behind him couldn't stop in time and rolled into a heap, groaning and crying out, blocking the entire corridor.

……

"Split into pieces!"

The light bursting from the tip of the wand cleaved through the rusty iron bars, and Draco practically tumbled out of the pipe.

He collapsed onto the cold floor, his back hunched over, coughing repeatedly. His pale golden hair was stuck to his face with cold sweat and coal dust, making him look extremely disheveled.

Just then, a hand suddenly reached out from behind and grabbed his neck from behind!
