Chapter 418
Prison Break
Chapter 418 Prison Break
"Sir, if we can't get close to the tank, can we use a detection spell on it from a distance?"
Kingsley approached Scrimgeour and whispered, "Maybe that's the only place that could leave obvious traces. We need to do a comprehensive inspection."
Before Scrimgeour could speak, Bode shook his head and said, "No, no...you'll alarm them if you use a spell."
Kingsley frowned and said, "But..."
"Kingsley," Scrimgeour interrupted. "I'll keep away from these things for your own protection - just check these areas outside."
"...Yes." Kingsley responded.
He saw that, although Scrimgeour had brought some of the best Aurors to check, he didn't seem to be determined to get a result.
In fact, the area they could search was extremely limited - only a short distance from the cerebral hall to the circular room outside.
Both rooms were empty, the intruders had done very little to destroy any traces, and the search was quickly concluded.
As for the Department of Mysteries, the road leads to the Tenth Courtroom underground.
The Ministry of Magic has recently been reexamining some past cases where procedures were not entirely standardized, and as they are always able to catch some wizards who are smugglers, thieves, or those who violate the Statute of Secrecy, even the Tenth Courtroom, which had been closed for many years, has been reopened.
On the day the Department of Mysteries was invaded, Courtroom 10 was trying an old case involving two famous figures in the wizarding world, and there were quite a lot of wizards coming and going.
So even though they all knew that the intruder took this opportunity to sneak into the Department of Mysteries, they had no way of finding out the person's identity based on the route and time.
Several Aurors completed their work quickly, and the final result was - no result.
Bode didn't seem surprised either. He frowned, made a bitter face, nodded absentmindedly, and then stared in a daze at the brain floating in the water tank.
"Ding--"
The elevator rang again, and a brown-haired man in simple clothes and holding a wooden box in his hand walked in quickly. When he saw that there were quite a few people in the main hall, he was stunned for a moment.
Bode suddenly came to life. He hurried over and asked in a low voice, "Did you get it?"
The brown-haired man nodded.
Bode couldn't help showing a hint of joy, and turned to Scrimgeour and the others and said, "Thank you, Mr. Scrimgeour. Now that the investigation is over, you can leave first."
Scrimgeour's stern gaze rested on them both for a moment.
"Let's go!"
He turned and left first, followed by the Aurors. As soon as they walked out of the circular hall, the black door behind them closed immediately.
"What's going on?" The young Auror said in confusion and anger, "No wonder no one likes these guys - are the Unspeakables all a bunch of freaks?"
"Okay, let's go."
They took the elevator and went directly to the second floor of the Ministry of Magic. The Auror Headquarters was on this floor. Unlike the dark underground, it was brightly sunny and bustling here.
Several Aurors returned to their cubicles and immersed themselves in their busy work. As for the previous investigation in the underground Department of Mysteries, they all signed a confidentiality agreement and were not allowed to disclose it to anyone.
Kingsley lagged behind a little, and after the others had left, he asked Scrimgeour, "Sir, do you know the identity of the intruder?"
Scrimgeour narrowed his eyes at him. "Are you doubting me?"
Kingsley smiled politely and said nothing.
Scrimgeour looked away again. “When I first came into contact with the Department of Mysteries, my superior told me something, and I’m passing it on to you now—”
"As for the Department of Mysteries, do not probe, do not approach, and do not be greedy."
"Anyone who tries to use that place to gain something for themselves will eventually suffer the consequences."
Scrimgeour left, and Kingsley remained silent, thinking about the words.
No maxim comes out of thin air. There must be countless bloody and painful lessons behind it, which is why, except for the Unspoken who are dedicated to magic, all other wizards in the magical world avoid the Department of Mysteries as much as possible.
What Kingsley was curious about now was - did the intruder know this?
If he knew, why would he still break in?
……
After watching the last Auror leave the Department of Mysteries, Bode slammed the door shut and then pulled his companion to the Brain Hall.
He reached out to take the wooden box, then hesitated.
"You didn't open it to look?" He asked, "Have you ever opened it?"
"No." The brown-haired wizard said, "After taking it out of the vault 716, I have been holding it. I have never opened it, and I have never let anyone touch it."
"That's good." Bode breathed a sigh of relief.
The two carefully opened the wooden box and saw several black seeds in it. After being exposed to the air, the color of the seeds began to turn faintly red.
The two wizards worked together to pry open several pieces of marble floor, then buried the seeds with their bare hands. When they filled in the last handful of soil, the seeds had turned a dazzling red.
After putting the floor tiles back and returning everything to its original state, Bode wiped the sweat from his forehead due to nervousness and said, "Okay, that's it."
The brown-haired wizard asked worriedly, "Will the intruder really come again?"
"That's for sure." Bode sighed and said, "Greed is the original sin... No matter what that guy gets from here, he will definitely come back."
……
Mabel wrapped herself in a cloak and huddled in a corner, resisting the urge to run away immediately, her eyes constantly looking at the people on the street.
Before that, she quietly followed Ryan Trocca to Diagon Alley. She knew that Trocca was going to buy textbooks in this place, hoping to take the opportunity to meet the young wizard who saved them.
But Mabel hadn't expected that there would be so many people in Diagon Alley!
It was crowded and shoulder to shoulder, and everywhere you looked, it was just a sea of black people.
Moreover, the wizards' attire is very similar. Except for a few mavericks, most people prefer black wizard robes. Although there are different embellishments on the edges and corners, at first glance, they all look exactly the same, and even their height, weight and body shape become blurred.
Mabel grew up in a dungeon, and after escaping, she always stayed in remote places. When had she ever seen such a crowded crowd?
Even though she possessed powerful and terrifying strength, she was still afraid and overwhelmed by this crowded and noisy place. In a panic, she accidentally lost Ryan Trocca and completely lost her way.
Mabel was like a fledgling abandoned by its parents. She stood in the middle of the street shivering, and only when she leaned against the wall did she breathe a sigh of relief.
She leaned against the wall to rest for a while, then turned her head casually and saw a black-and-white photo of herself on the brick wall.
——It was a wanted poster posted on the wall.
"Hey, kid!" The clerk from the shop next door came out and asked kindly, "Are you sick? Is there anything I can do for you?" Mabel was startled and didn't dare let him see her face. She quickly pulled down her hood and ran away!
She ran aimlessly for a long time, and when she saw that no one was chasing her, she slowly stopped and hid in a corner to observe the outside.
The girl had a weak constitution, and this running made her chest hurt as if it was going to explode. She squatted on the ground, breathing hard, trying to ease the painful feeling.
A few wisps of black mist emanated from her body, spreading for a distance along the floor, and just when they were about to touch a passerby, they suddenly shrank back.
"Don't do anything bad!" Mabel said to herself. "If someone finds out, I'll be finished!"
She looked up at the sky and felt that the weather was becoming even more gloomy.
Vader... where can I find him?
……
Wade did not hide. When he saw Lupin appear at the door of the bookstore, they said goodbye to the professor they had just met and walked out together.
Michael noticed that Lupin looked a little strange, so he asked, "What happened? You look so bad."
"Who was that just now?" Lu Ping asked with a stern face.
"It's the new professor at Hogwarts," said Harry. "He said his name was Ryan Trocca."
Lupin was stunned: "Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts?"
"Correct."
Lupin was silent for a moment.
In fact, he had received a letter from Dumbledore before, asking him if he could go to the school to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Lupin was tempted for a moment, but ultimately refused.
Although Vader and Aslan Magic Workshop have a pleasant cooperation, it does not mean that they can just leave it alone. Lupin also has a lot of work to be responsible for.
Sirius was still tracking down the whereabouts of Peter Pettigrew and the other two, and Lupin was worried about him.
Now another group of criminals has been discovered targeting young wizards - even though the Ministry of Magic thinks the matter is over, both Dumbledore and people like Lupin who got involved later think it's not that simple.
Lupin had too many things to worry about and couldn't just drop everything and hide in the ivory tower of the school.
It seems that after he refused, Dumbledore invited the man inside to be a professor... Although the man looked elegant, Lupin couldn't like him.
Perhaps it was the mutual perception between dangerous creatures, he vaguely felt that the guy was a bit like a vampire.
Having been ambushed by that creature before, Lupin had a very bad impression of vampires.
But he couldn't be sure, because judging from his appearance alone... In fact, there has always been a rumor among Hogwarts students that Potions Professor Snape is actually a vampire.
Besides, since Dumbledore invited him...
"What's wrong with him?"
When Lupin heard Vader ask this, he hesitated for a moment, shook his head and said, "I just don't feel well - have you finished shopping?"
"No, but we plan to buy the rest at a Muggle mall," Harry said with a smile.
"Is that so..." Hearing this, Lupin became curious and said, "Let's go, it's getting late."
"Today's weather is really bad!" Michael looked up at the sky and said depressedly, "It's about to rain. I feel like I can't even breathe smoothly."
They walked towards the entrance of Diagon Alley and saw many people on the way who had bought the newly released communication peas. They were talking to people while walking, and it seemed like they were talking to themselves. Some of them even laughed suddenly.
"How convenient." Michael said, "Maybe the Friends Book will soon be replaced by the Communication Pea."
"Impossible." Harry shook his head and said, "The Friend Book is much cheaper, and it can also send pictures, which the Communication Pea can't do."
"Speaking of which... Wade, your Christmas gift this time won't be to give everyone a communication pea, right?"
Michael raised his eyebrows and looked at Wade, saying, "Occasionally, you should take the trouble to prepare a special gift. Actually, I prefer the snacks made by your little puppet."
Wade glanced at him and found that Michael was speaking in a joking tone, but his eyes looked serious.
On the surface, he was asking for a gift, but in fact, he was telling Wade not to send the communication peas this time.
The puppet is not cheap, but since Vader made it himself, the cost is not too high.
Communication peas are even more expensive because there are so many people who want them that Aslan Magic Workshop has to limit the purchase. So reselling them will cost a large sum of Galleons. This kind of thing is not suitable as a gift between students.
"Hmmmm." Harry nodded vigorously without thinking too much, "It's really delicious... and the ribs and chicken legs are also delicious. Wade, your puppet must have a secret recipe, right?"
Wade laughed: "Well, there must be a snack package in the gift. Of course, I also prepared something else..."
He looked at Michael and said emphatically, "Not the communication pea."
"That's good." Michael smiled and said, "I'm looking forward to seeing your surprise for everyone."
As they passed a pet store, they heard a wizard not far away suddenly shout, "What did you say? Is this true?"
Passersby looked at him, but the wizard didn't care. He just pressed his left ear, his face pale and cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
"That's impossible...are you kidding me?"
He said tremblingly.
The curious crowd stopped unconsciously without waiting for the answer.
Because someone's newly bought communication peas made a sound, someone's friend book in their pocket began to heat up, and someone else looked in astonishment at the silver-white guardian angel running towards them.
People on the street stopped one after another to respond to this sudden emergency call.
After a moment, everyone's expressions were strangely synchronized - pale, terrified, and unbelievable.
Snapped!
Snapped!
Snapped!
Loud noises like explosions rang out one after another. Many wizards Apparated away from Diagon Alley, while others rushed to the fireplace management office.
Wade looked at the scene strangely, and suddenly had a strange feeling as if he had fallen into "The Truman Show", as if everyone around him had received instructions from the director at the same time.
"What happened?"
Before Lupin could finish his words, he suddenly raised his hands and pressed his ears. The three young wizards looked at him nervously.
After a moment, Lupin raised his head, swallowed, and there was a hint of disbelief in his eyes.
"Sirius said... there was news from Nurmengard... that man... escaped from prison!"
