Chapter 924
Paper Plane
Chapter 924 Paper Plane
Inside the black van, Braun gestured with his finger on the map, measuring the distance to his destination.
"Get ready, turn right after two more intersections, we'll be there."
"You're the only one from the UMNO party?" Abigail asked tentatively. "They can't even find a spare driver, so they need the heir to come in person."
“There’s nothing I can do.” Braun sighed. “Everyone has their own secrets, and there are times when it’s inconvenient for others to follow me.”
As they were speaking, a new instruction came through the earpiece. Braun listened intently, then replied, "Yes."
His voice was almost identical to that of the man in the carriage whose neck had been broken by Ning.
Abigail was startled; the truck lurched violently on the road.
Fortunately, it was late at night and the only car on the road was theirs, which prevented an accident from happening.
After stabilizing the car, Abigail couldn't help but turn to look at Braun. Seeing that his face hadn't changed, she breathed a sigh of relief.
“The destination has changed.” After ending the call, Braun said, “Turn left ahead.”
"Why change locations?" Abigail asked warily. "Isn't there a problem?"
“Normally.” Braun smiled faintly. “People who do bad things secretly always feel like they have countless imaginary enemies, so they will try their best to hide themselves.”
Finally, the truck stopped in a desolate industrial area. As it approached the iron gate, the camera on the gate turned towards the vehicle, and Abigail, in the driver's seat, silently stared at it expressionlessly.
The iron gate slid open slowly.
The truck drove in, and a man in a yellow uniform stood by the roadside directing them to drive the truck into an extremely spacious warehouse.
The warehouse was brightly lit, with more than a dozen movers carrying goods back and forth. There were also many boxes that were more than half a person tall in the warehouse.
Abigail frowned: They sent the kidnapped wizards to places like this.
But at this moment, the truck could not turn around. It could only drive into the warehouse along the central aisle and slowly stop. The hum of the engine sounded particularly abrupt in this space.
"Shh!"
The iron gates on both sides slammed shut, startling Abigail. Just as she reached for her wand, she saw the porters suddenly and nimbly slip into the boxes and slam the lids shut with a bang.
The next second—
A blinding white light engulfed the entire car from all directions! The light was so intense that it could almost burn the retina, causing everything inside the car to lose its shadows and outlines, leaving only a stark white.
Abigail reacted swiftly, shrinking down as the white light blinded her, her hand still gripping her wand tightly.
However, immediately afterward, a sharp, distorted high-frequency hum erupted from the huge speaker above the wall!
The sound seemed to penetrate directly into the skull, stirring the brain and causing severe dizziness and nausea.
"Close your ears—"
Before Abigail could finish her incantation, the next wave of attacks had already engulfed the truck inside and out.
"Om-"
A strange trembling sound arose, mixed in with the sonic attack, almost unnoticed.
However, the next second, Abigail covered her ears and let out a painful groan.
A terrifying sensation came from within her body—she felt the magic within her was like an ice cube thrown into boiling water, beginning to boil and surge violently and uncontrollably!
Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain as if I were being pierced by countless needles. My temples throbbed, my vision began to go black, and a strong urge to vomit rose in my throat.
She trembled all over, curled up in the cramped space under the driver's seat, gasping for breath, her face instantly drained of all color.
Braun, standing to the side, suddenly stiffened, and the light in his eyes dimmed rapidly.
His tall frame seemed to have lost all its strength, and he slumped into his seat, motionless.
One second, two seconds... five seconds... a full three minutes later, the strange attack finally stopped. The truck door was roughly pulled open, and a group of people wearing protective masks and fully armed dragged the two men out of the truck like sacks of potatoes, slamming them heavily onto the cold concrete ground.
Abigail's eyes were unfocused, and she let out a weak groan.
"Click!"
Special metal shackles locked their wrists and ankles, with tiny needles on them slowly releasing the drug into their veins.
Abigail felt as if all her pain had been alleviated, and an irresistible sense of peace swept over her. Her thoughts were like being immersed in thick honey, and even the thought of lifting a finger seemed so difficult.
She barely managed to turn her eyes to look at Braun, only to find that the man who had been so confident just moments before looked as if he were dead, his eyes half-closed and his chest barely rising or falling.
Just then, she heard the crisp sound of high heels clicking on the ground, approaching slowly and steadily.
Liana Lightfoot slowly emerged from the shadows deep within the warehouse and stopped in front of the two collapsed figures.
She was dressed in a sharp business suit with a white lab coat over it, and had a half-smile on her face.
"Thank you both for coming to us. It saves us the trouble of making an arrest and also saves us from having to continue trading with that disgusting guy, Brolin."
She leaned forward slightly, her gaze first sweeping over the limp and lifeless Braun, then landing on the pale-faced and sweating Abigail, a knowing smile playing on her lips.
“You wizards are always so arrogant, always thinking you can come and go as you please on our turf, while stupid… what’s that word again?… Oh, ‘Muggles’! Stupid Muggles can do nothing to you.”
"But obviously, that's not the case, is it?"
She straightened up and looked them over with the eyes of someone assessing experimental subjects.
"Welcome to my place, you two. I hope you... can adapt to the environment here as soon as possible."
Liana Lightfoot waved her hand, signaling her men to take the two important "samples" away.
Two armed men immediately stepped forward and roughly lifted the nearly exhausted Abigail up.
The other two men walked toward Braun, who was slumped on the ground, and prepared to lift him up.
As they exerted force, one of them paused, frowned, and looked up at Liana, saying:
"Ma'am, this person...something's not right, he seems..."
Before the words were finished, everyone heard a strange knocking sound at the same time.
Knock, knock, knock.
It sounded like someone was politely knocking on the door, but the sound came from the skylight glass high up in the warehouse.
Everyone instinctively looked up. They saw a pure white paper airplane repeatedly hitting the thick reinforced glass, which looked quite eerie.
Liana's expression suddenly changed, and she grabbed the walkie-talkie, shouting sharply, "Turn on all the machines!"
The person on the other end was startled: "But you're all still inside."
Never mind that! Immediately—
Before she could finish speaking, something unexpected happened!
Boom——! ! !
Countless identical white paper airplanes, like a startled swarm of bees, simultaneously crashed through all the windows of the warehouse from all directions!
Glass shards rained down like a storm, refracting countless dangerous points of light under the lamplight.
This is not the most terrible.
Underneath the wing of each paper airplane that crashed in, there was a small bomb tightly strapped in, flashing an unstable red light!
The white swarm of aircraft, accompanied by a deathly roar and dense red light, instantly filled the entire warehouse space like deadly locusts!
Liana looked up at the dense cluster of red dots and froze completely.
