Chapter 509
: Killing Forest
Chapter 509: Killing Forest
The raindrops hit the leaves with a clatter, and flowed down the thin branches. The small trees swayed as if in response.
The man gently touched the treetops, a satisfied but cold smile on his lips.
He was completely covered in a pitch-black raincoat, and only half of his face could be seen, but his appearance could not be seen clearly.
Beside him, there are countless tall trees surrounding him, like silent giant guards, or like a tight cage.
The man seemed to say something, but I couldn't hear it clearly. I could only see his mouth opening and closing. The only sound I could hear was the sound of raindrops hitting the wet ground, splashing circles of ripples.
Suddenly, a tree root as big as a giant python slammed heavily on the ground. With a "pop", water splashed everywhere, and people were so frightened that they subconsciously took a step back.
As he stepped back, he suddenly felt as if he had stepped on air. A strong sense of weightlessness came over him, and his body shook violently, and Wade woke up.
He lay in bed, still feeling a palpitating feeling as if he was falling out of control.
It took a few seconds for Wade to realize that the sound of rain was not only in his dreams, but also in his ears.
A night passed and the rain didn't stop.
He waved his palm forward, and a string of golden characters appeared in the air, showing the current time.
【07:05】
It's seven o'clock in the morning, Kreacher should have prepared breakfast. I wonder if the game is over and whether Lupin and the others have returned.
As Wade thought about this, he got up and dressed, his mind unconsciously recalling the strange dream he had before waking up.
Rainy night, giant tree, black-robed wizard.
Maybe this is what it means when you think about something during the day, you dream about it at night?
Wade glanced casually at the desk and saw that the book "Historical Quidditch World Cup" that he used as a pastime before going to bed was still open. There was a simple black and white illustration on the page, and the picture was exactly the same as what he saw in his dream.
There was a title written in black font next to it:
[Attack in the Killer Forest].
……
"Master Wade, wake up! Kreacher has prepared breakfast!"
Kreacher saw Wade and came over to speak cordially. When Wade reached the table, he even took the initiative to pull out the chair for him.
Wade looked at the empty long table and asked, "They haven't come back yet?"
"The master, Master Harry, and Mr. Lupin have not returned because the game is not over yet."
Kreacher said, "Kreacher has already sent breakfast, Master Wade, please have breakfast!"
Vader nodded and asked no more questions.
After breakfast and leaving the tent, I saw that the camp was still very quiet. There were only a few government workers patrolling, and some parents with young children preparing breakfast.
Most of the kids couldn't stay up late to watch the game, and their parents probably took their kids back to their tents to rest early last night. In fact, in addition to the game, camping like this is also very interesting.
The sky was still not clear at this time, with low grey clouds hanging low. Fine raindrops fell in a myriad of threads, splashing up clusters of pearl-like water light.
The children were wearing raincoats and jumping in the mud, laughing and giggling like a group of snoring little pigs.
Wade stood outside for a while, but did not return to the tent to continue reading. Instead, he walked towards the competition venue.
——He was not curious about the result of the game. He knew that the Bulgarian team would definitely win in the end.
Wade just wanted to know, after a whole night of rain, what state were the players of the two teams in at this moment to persist in the game? Would the audience still be as enthusiastic as before?
He walked through one tent after another and suddenly saw a tent made of fur, and he stopped.
Thinking of his suspicion last night, Wade couldn't help but laugh at himself. He subconsciously walked over to take another look at the tree that had frightened him. However, there was no one beside the tent.
Wade was stunned for a moment, looked at the brown-gray animal tail hanging by the door, then looked at the unique hand-sewn pattern, and confirmed that this was the place he passed by last night.
I looked down again and found a small mud pit next to the tent. It was now filled with rain water and was rippling in circles.
It was somewhat similar to the scene in his dream.
But who's so bored as to pull up trees in camp?
Wade looked around and was speechless when he saw the smoke rising in the drizzle.
——Could it be that someone got up early to cook and was too lazy to go to the forest to find firewood, so he just used local materials?
Although it is impossible to ignite this kind of tree, magic can always easily break through common sense.
Wade glanced at the blue-gray forest not far away, then walked towards the gymnasium.
At the entrance, the staff member in charge of ticket checking leaned against the wall with sleepy eyes. He waved his hand without taking a closer look and let Wade in.
He went up the stairs and pushed open the door of the box, and found that the two adults were listless, only Harry was still excited.
"You're just in time, Wade," Harry said happily. "Now that the field of vision has improved, I think they should be able to catch the Golden Snitch and decide the winner soon!"
—Really? I feel like they're about to die.
Wade looked at the pale-faced athletes and asked, "You guys were watching the game all night? Didn't you get any sleep?"
"What? Of course not!"
Harry said without hesitation as he used the telescope to focus on the two Seekers, especially Krum from the Bulgarian team.
The eighteen-year-old athlete demonstrated extremely superb flying skills and a terrifyingly tenacious competitive spirit. Although he had not yet caught the Golden Snitch, he had become Harry's idol.
"How about you, Wade?" Sirius yawned and asked, "Did you sleep well last night?"
"It was fine. I slept well until dawn. I even had a strange dream about the murderous forest this morning." Wade said casually.
"Murderous Forest?" Harry took the time to turn his ear and asked curiously, "What is that?"
"That was the most infamous match in the history of the Quidditch World Cup."
Sirius also understood something. He perked up a little and said to Harry eagerly:
"About two hundred years ago, I remember it was the final between Romania and New Spain. There was a bad-tempered Romanian player who had conflicts with his teammates, referees, and opponents. His team saw that it was hopeless to win, so he simply colluded with the dark wizard and cast a curse on the entire forest."
Lupin also knew this history. He went on to say, "It is said that at that time, the trees in the forest suddenly came alive and rushed to the gymnasium to trample on it, causing countless deaths and injuries. The guy who cast the evil curse was not spared and was killed by a brutal spruce tree."
Harry was stunned for a moment, imagining the tragic scene of all the big trees in the forest rushing into the crowd to slaughter them, and forgot to watch the game for a moment.
He murmured, "...you call this a 'bad temper'?"
Wade asked curiously, "What kind of spell did that person use? It was so powerful."
"Who knows?" Sirius spread his hands and said, "Such a dangerous spell must have been listed as a forbidden spell at the time, and no one was allowed to learn it. The Ministry of Magic would also seal all related materials to prevent any crazy guy from imitating it."
——That’s right, it should just be sealed and not completely destroyed.
Vader thought subconsciously.
By the 19th century, large-scale witch hunts had ended, with only sporadic persecutions continuing in some remote areas.
But the Ministry of Magic will always keep the spell. In case there is another large-scale war and the wizards are in an absolutely disadvantageous situation, then all the forests in the world can be transformed into "soldiers" of the wizarding world.
The only problem is that these "soldiers" sound confused about friend or foe and will kill the wizards as well...
