Lessons and Curses

Chapter 226 Lessons and Curses

Wade was silent for a moment, then asked, "Even if Lockhart continues to stay in school, can we learn anything from it?"

"Uh..." Michael was speechless.

"Yes!"

Padma leaned over from a distance, stroked her hair and said, "I think my acting skills have improved a lot recently - right, Harry?"

She also named another regular on the Defense Against the Dark Arts course.

Unfortunately, Harry couldn't hear what Padma said because of the distance between them and Hufflepuff. He nodded in confusion, probably trying to say hello.

I don't know what touched Padma's funny bone, but she burst into laughter and couldn't even hold her fork.

"How strange!" Michael whispered to Wade, "I thought Padma would be very sad that Lockhart was captured!"

"Girls probably just like Lockhart's looks, but Padma can see that he's a complete fool, so her liking for him isn't real," Wade said.

Michael nodded thoughtfully, and suddenly added: "Lockhart did teach us something - at least he made me know not to become a person like him in the future."

After hearing what Michael said, Wade couldn't help but glance at the teacher's seat.

This kind of realization of his is probably what Dumbledore wants Harry to learn, right?

——Don't be vain and don't be a slave to fame.

But today, Dumbledore still did not appear in the hall. He had been very busy recently, and sometimes students would see the old headmaster walking hurriedly across the lawn, but rarely saw him at dinner time.

Dumbledore must have known that Lockhart had been arrested, but even so, he did not appear on campus.

On the way to the classroom for class in the afternoon, Wade and others saw a group of Gryffindors gathered together. After a while, everyone screamed and cheered.

A handful of magic fireworks were lit, and they flew in all directions, making strange cackling sounds and shouting—

"Lockhart get out! Lockhart get out!"

The students cheered.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the Weasley twins and their friend Lee Jordan were celebrating with everyone. Unfortunately, they were soon scared away by Professor McGonagall who came over angrily.

"This is nothing to celebrate! And I don't believe Professor Lockhart is that kind of person! Maybe the Ministry of Magic made a mistake."

Lisa from Ravenclaw said angrily.

No one took her words to heart. Anthony frowned and said, "There are still four months before the holiday! I want to know now, can the school find a new professor for us?"

"New professor? What if he's another person like Lockhart?" Mandy said worriedly.

"Relax, there are few people worse than Lockhart!" Terry comforted, "He even used his own novel as a textbook! My grandmother said she had never heard of such a ridiculous thing!"

"The question is not who... the question is whether there is one?" Anthony said, "I heard that it is always difficult to find a professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts. No one has ever been able to teach for more than a year."

"Many people who taught this course had accidents. They said that this course seemed to be cursed," said another student, Kevin, mysteriously.

"But if this continues, I'm really worried that I'll fail the final exam."

Morag said gloomily, and after everyone sat down in the classroom, he suddenly asked: "Wade, can you come and teach us?" Everyone was stunned and looked at the two.

The more Morag thought about it, the more she felt it was a good idea. She continued to encourage him, "I heard from the professor that you have taught yourself to the level of senior students. If you were to teach everyone, you would definitely be much better than Lockhart and his ilk..."

The other students were also somewhat moved, but before Wade could speak, Michael sneered and said loudly:
"Hey! Kevin just said this class is cursed! Or do you think that as long as you can get a high score, it doesn't matter even if Wade is cursed?"

"No, no!" Morag really forgot about it and waved his hands hurriedly, saying, "I didn't mean that... I just thought... if it's just occasional tutoring..."

"Impossible, there's no time. Vader still has to do research on alchemy!"

Michael said unhappily: "You also said that he is only at the level of senior students. If you want tutoring, why don't you find a real senior student?"

He usually gets along with everyone, but this is the first time he has been so rude to his classmates. Morag's face turned red, and he was speechless for a long time.

Wade wanted to say something, but Michael just shook his head.

The classroom suddenly became quiet and the atmosphere was a little awkward. When the Gryffindor students came in, they thought the professor was there too, so they tiptoed into their seats one by one.

After a while, Professor Flitwick also came. When he started the class, the atmosphere finally became a little more lively.

Today they learned the Freezing Spell, which is a spell that can freeze a target and is somewhat similar to the Petrification Spell.

Everyone in the SSC had already learned this spell, and they used it skillfully, which made Professor Flitwick happy and gave each of the two houses a few extra points.

Afterwards, Professor Flitwick asked the students to divide into groups and start practicing, but suddenly he found that an arm was raised high.

The person who raised her hand was naturally Hermione.

"Miss Granger, do you have any questions?" Professor Flitwick asked curiously.

"Professor, I want to know, is there any solid evidence to prove Professor Lockhart's guilt?" Hermione asked, standing up.

"Uh... this shouldn't be revealed to students..." Professor Flitwick said embarrassedly.

The students saw this and knew something was going to happen, so they begged, “Please, Professor, tell us something.”

"Well...anyway, it won't be long before you see it in the newspaper..."

Professor Flitwick hesitated for only a few seconds before sharing the news he had received with everyone.

"I heard that someone collected a lot of evidence and reported Professor Lockhart to the Ministry of Magic... No, Gilderoy Lockhart. Although the Ministry of Magic's attitude is that it needs to investigate further, it can actually be confirmed."

"Then, can Professor Lockhart come back to teach?" Lisa asked hopefully.

When it came to Lockhart, Flitwick was in a bad mood, but when he thought of that man's fate, the professor immediately calmed down.

"Of course not," he said to his student, "He will probably spend the rest of his life in Azkaban, at least ten years."

"So serious?!" the students were all shocked.

"Of course." Professor Flitwick took the opportunity to warn the students: "The consequences of misusing the Oblivion Charm are very serious. I heard that some people even died tragically because they forgot how to live a normal life. You must also remember to use your magic with caution."
