Chapter 543
League Notice
Chapter 543 League Notice
"Thank you, Vader, for the excellent spell idea."
In the teacher's seat, Dumbledore's eyes sparkled with joy: "Ravenclaw gets twenty points."
Just as he finished speaking, a pleasant tinkling sound came from the blue-bronze gem funnel in the huge hourglass, and a string of sapphires fell, instantly making the hourglass of Ravenclaw College a little higher than the other three.
"Yeah!" Professor Flitwick clenched his fists tightly, then he looked around and pretended to cough. When he put down his arms, he couldn't help moving his body twice and gave Wade an appreciative look.
Next to him, Dumbledore drew out his wand and waved it. The ceiling that was originally filled with lightning and thunder suddenly turned into a clear starry sky, with the occasional ethereal aurora as misty as brocade passing by.
I don't know who started it, but suddenly there was applause in the auditorium. It was intermittent at first, then gradually became enthusiastic, and some people even clashed their forks.
"Well done, Wade!" Fred exclaimed.
"That's right!" George agreed. "It's worth it even if my hair turns into skrewts!"
Many people burst into laughter.
Professor Dumbledore waited patiently for a moment before clapping his hands, and the laughter in the hall quickly died down.
"It was a delightful interlude, and I am glad that our evening will be dry and comfortable. But now, let us proceed to the most important ceremony of the evening."
The freshmen who had been clapping and cheering excitedly just now suddenly became nervous.
On the high stool, the Sorting Hat opened a wide slit, coughed twice, and sang in a loud voice:
"That was more than a thousand years ago, when I was just being woven into shape. There were four famous wizards whose names have been passed down to this day..."
Michael bumped Wade's arm and whispered, "What's going on? You weren't so high-profile before."
Wade pondered for a moment and asked, "Magic School League, don't you want to participate?"
"Of course I do." Michael said without hesitation, and then changed the subject: "But I also know that with my level, I'm probably just joining in the fun. But if it's you... oh, you're not going to scare away potential competitors, are you?"
"No such good thing." Wade said, "I just hope that when I become the Hogwarts Knight, no one will question my eligibility to participate."
"Who would be so desperate?"
Michael thought for a moment and said, "The rules this time are different from before. If there is a team competition, don't bring along a few laggards just because you have to take care of someone. The senior students are more reliable..."
He glanced across several long tables and said selectively, "Cedric, the Weasley twins, and Miles Blaitch from Slytherin are all good. For our house, it's Roger Davis."
"It's not time to consider these issues yet." Wade said, "And if there is really a team competition, whether the abilities are complementary and whether there is a willingness to cooperate is the most important thing rather than the level of magic. I can't leave my back to someone I don't trust."
Michael hesitated for a moment and nodded: "You are right."
There was warm applause in the hall again - the Sorting Hat had finished singing, Professor McGonagall began to preside over the sorting, and everyone turned their eyes to the freshmen.
"Oh my god," Wade heard a girl next to him whisper to herself, "They are so small!"
Vader nodded unconsciously.
When he was sorted into the dormitory, he didn't feel how short he was. But now sitting aside, he felt that those first-grade children looked like a group of little idiots, with different degrees of tension and fear on their faces.
"Stuart Ackerley!"
A shivering boy walked over, sat on the stool, and put on the dirty hat. "Ravenclaw!"
Applause broke out at the long table, and Wade clapped his hands as well. When the child looked at him excitedly, Wade smiled gently and nodded.
"I bet," Michael muttered, "all these first-year students are probably your admirers."
"Just don't chase me and take pictures." Wade smiled and said with his lips slightly moving: "I don't have as much patience as Harry."
During the sorting, the two of them did not whisper to each other. After waiting for the ceremony to end, the dinner finally began.
After eating and drinking, Dumbledore made another announcement, such as various prohibited items and the old-fashioned prohibition of entering the Forbidden Forest.
In addition, several new regulations have been added, such as not being able to use magnification spells on insects or puppets outside the maze, not being able to use puppets for gambling, not being able to use the Friends Book or Communication Pea in class, etc.
In the teachers' seats, several pairs of eyes swept over Wade again and again, but he pretended not to notice them all and just looked at the headmaster intently, as if what Dumbledore said was some golden rule.
Then, Dumbledore introduced the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, Moody. The students were so stunned by his strange appearance that they even forgot to applaud.
Next, Dumbledore announced a league competition among eleven magic schools, which unsurprisingly set the entire hall on fire.
"Any student can sign up, but this does not mean that you can rashly throw yourself into danger. The competition items are still very difficult. In order to ensure that the contestants do not die tragically..."
Dumbledore's eyes swept across those excited and expectant faces, and saw some children subconsciously showing fear. He then looked at those students whose expressions did not change.
Wade looked at him for a moment and secretly clenched his fists.
Dumbledore continued: "-There will be a very impartial referee who will be responsible for selecting contestants with corresponding magical abilities from the applicants."
"Delegations from other magic schools will arrive in October and spend most of the school year with us..."
"Did you notice?" Michael turned to Wade and said meaningfully, "Dumbledore didn't say that each school should select several warriors."
"Except for Quidditch games, most wizards have no experience in teamwork." Wade said objectively.
"But we do," Michael said. "We are used to working with all kinds of classmates in maze games."
"Yeah." Weed looked at him and said, "So if other schools knew this, they would be even less likely to agree to let the team participate in the competition."
"So we only select the best one from each school?" Michael frowned and said, "In this way, senior students will have more advantages. At least their magic power is stronger..."
At this time, Dumbledore announced the end of the dinner, and the students pushed their chairs away and walked towards the door.
"Vade!"
A hand reached out from the gap in the crowd and patted Vader's shoulder.
Anthony Goldstein smiled and said, "After you go back, can you stay in the lounge for a while? I want to talk to you."
