Chapter 584: Books That Cannot Be Borrowed

Peregrine Falcon turned his gaze and stared at a corner in the woods. Transfiguration made his vision much better than before.

Suddenly, he swooped down, his wings pressed against his body, and shot down from the sky like a silver arrow.

Among the dead leaves, a mouse that was originally squatting on a branch seemed to sense danger. It didn't even bother to look up and suddenly ran down along the tilted tree trunk.

When the peregrine falcon's claws were about to grab its back, the mouse suddenly turned around and jumped to the downward side of the tree trunk!
After missing the attack, the peregrine falcon suddenly spread its wings, slowed down, circled, turned back, and rushed towards the mouse again!

The gray mouse had already crawled into the bushes. It was moving along the tree roots and grass at an astonishing speed. Its gray figure was like a flash of lightning, agile and swift.

Suddenly, it jumped into a narrow tree hole and felt the peregrine falcon's claws passing over the hole. Gusts of wind blew up the dead leaves on the ground, and the sound of flapping wings seemed to be very close.

The mouse hid in the hole, its heart beating wildly. It gasped for breath, and after a long time, it carefully poked its head out and looked around.

There were no peregrine falcons nearby, nor any wizards.

The mouse breathed a sigh of relief and crawled out of the tree hole. As he ran, his figure quickly lengthened, his limbs deformed, his long beard quickly shortened, and finally his skin became smooth and delicate, but very dark, so dark that his facial features were almost invisible at night.

After changing back to human form, the boy was no longer afraid of the peregrine falcon's pursuit. He looked up at the dark night sky, then quickly ran towards the boulder on the grass.

The Peregrine Falcon was still standing on a high branch. He watched the mouse transform into Jabari Weaving of Uagadu, and then watched the boy sneak across the field and into the boulder camp they brought with them.

Peregrine turned around and saw Karkaroff also coming out of the Forbidden Forest with his figure concealed, followed by the dark-skinned Principal Mando emerging from another direction.

A few minutes later, a black cat the size of a palm ran out of the woods. It did not turn into a human, but it had a camera-like thing on its head.

Abby from Salem College stepped off the helicopter, leaned over to pick up the black cat that ran to her feet, gently stroked the cat's chin, and then returned to the plane.

Even though the fire dragon's site was far away from the castle, such a big commotion had obviously attracted the attention of the principals of various schools. They all used their own methods to gather information, and no one really followed the rules.

The Peregrine Falcon did not continue to look. He flew a large circle along the edge of the Forbidden Forest, and after circling to the back of the castle again, he chose a window and flew into the castle.

……

The sun on Sunday morning shone through the glass of the library, casting mottled shadows on the floor. Wade sat by the window, slowly flipping through the book "Essentials for Wizard Level Examination: Basic Magic" in his hand.

"We have to tell the others!" Harry walked around him, saying in a worried tone, "This is a matter of life and death, Wade!"

Madam Pince's hawk-like sharp eyes immediately swept towards the corner, but because Vader had cast a sound-blocking spell nearby, she did not hear any extraneous sounds.

So the librarian frowned, stared at them for a while, and then turned his eyes away.

"No need, just tell Cedric." Wade turned a page of the book and said without looking up.

"But...what about students from other schools?" Harry said anxiously, "There are kids younger than us there!"

"Harry," Wade looked up at him, handed him a note, and said, "Go to Madam Pince and borrow these books first."

"what?"

Harry took the parchment and saw that it contained titles of books related to dragons. He immediately felt that he understood.

Indeed, it would be better for them to secure their own advantages first before reminding others.

He took the note and ran excitedly to find the librarian.

……

"What? The book 'Magic in the Dragon's Lair' is gone?" Harry looked at Madam Pince with a stern face in disbelief and asked, "What about 'How to Tam a Fire Dragon'?"

"Unfortunately, that book is no longer available," said Madam Pince.

"How is this possible?" Harry scratched his head, then looked down at the parchment and said, "Do you still have "The Legend of the Dragon"? " "No."

"What about 'The Secret Power of Magical Creatures'?"

"nor."

"Wizards and Dragons? Okay, I know it's gone, but Fire and Scales is still there, right?"

Madam Pince sighed, looked at him sympathetically, and said, "You are very late, Potter. The last copy of Fire and Scale was borrowed an hour ago."

"Can you tell me who borrowed it?" Harry asked anxiously, "I really need it now!"

"Of course not. Borrowing records are confidential," Madam Pince said sternly.

Harry slumped his shoulders in disappointment, and holding on to the last glimmer of hope, he asked, "Are there no books about dragons left?"

"There's one last one." Madam Pince pulled out an old book from the cabinet as if by magic, and said, "A student just returned it ten minutes ago. Do you want to borrow it?"

Harry glanced at the title - The Man Who Doted on Dragons.

He could guess without reading the content that the target audience of this book must be people like Hagrid. The book must contain content such as how to help dragons hatch eggs, how to raise baby dragons, how to treat sick and injured fire dragons, and postpartum care for dragon mothers.

But what can I do? This is the only book about dragons.

Harry finally sighed and borrowed the book back. He flipped open a page at random and saw the words: "When using magic to clean a dragon's teeth, you need to pay attention to the following issues..."

……

"How is this possible? This is the only book related to fire dragons left in the library!"

Harry sat down next to Wade with a look of disbelief on his face and put the book on the table. "I don't want to know how to brush a dragon's teeth! Who on earth borrowed all the useful books?"

"Of course they are contestants from other schools." Wade said calmly, "I've been sitting here since the library opened. When most people haven't even gotten up yet, those guys have already borrowed all the books they can borrow."

"Can each person borrow so many books at a time?" Harry asked curiously, "Do warriors have special privileges?"

"No." Wade said, "Have you forgotten that there are many students who were not selected?"

"Okay..." Harry paused, then suddenly realized: "So... other schools know about it?"

"Well, Cedric is probably the only one who doesn't know that there is a dragon in the first project." Wade repeated what he said before: "So you just need to tell him."

Cedric has always been excellent in every aspect, but at this moment, Wade truly realized that the guy was indeed a Hufflepuff.

With the guidance of their own headmaster, the warriors definitely knew how to deal with the dragon, but they all chose to borrow the dragon books from the Hogwarts library in order to weaken their opponents.

Wade was observing from this corner, which was close to the entrance but still relatively hidden, to see which schools' students came to borrow books.

The result was that, except for the three from Hogwarts, all the contestants from other schools had already arrived.

Harry had been learning how to deal with dragons from Sirius last night, so he probably got up late this morning and didn't think about borrowing books in time.

Cedric was the only one who really knew nothing about it, and was probably still guessing with his classmates what the first event of the competition would be.

"But..." Harry asked worriedly, "All the books have been borrowed, what should we do?"

What Sirius and Lupin could teach him was not as comprehensive and specific as what was in the book. Moreover, some dragons only lived in certain areas, and the two elders didn't really know much about them.

"Didn't I tell you?" Wade patted Harry on the shoulder and said, "I know that fire dragons have appeared in previous tournaments, so I have already collected all the necessary information. I also have all the books you want to borrow."
