Chapter 678

Flame

Chapter 678 Flame
It was still midday, but the Forbidden Forest was pitch black, with only the faint sounds of insects chirping.

"Lumos!"

As he whispered the incantation, a ball of light emerged from the tip of Vader's wand. With a slight flick of his wrist, the ball of light slowly floated up, hovering three or four feet above his head, like a giant incandescent light bulb in the Forbidden Forest.

The boundless darkness around them was instantly dispelled, and the towering shadows of ancient trees emerged from the thick darkness. The tangled roots on the ground resembled sleeping giant pythons, and one could easily trip and fall.

On a nearby tree, a dozen slender vines were silently reaching out to Wade. The sudden light seemed to startle them, and the vines instantly retracted like nimble snakes.

Suddenly, Wade felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end; it was an instinctive feeling that danger was approaching.

He whirled around, his wand tracing a brilliant arc!

At the same time, a spider as big as a horse jumped down from the tree canopy overhead, its eight eyes gleaming coldly in the fluorescent light, and its long, dark, hairy legs reached straight for Wade!
The light of the spell struck the giant spider instantly, and golden-red flames burst into flames, engulfing the onrushing spider in the blink of an eye.

Fire snakes spread wildly across its hairy body, causing its carapace to crackle and pop. The eight-eyed giant spider let out a piercing shriek, writhing on the ground in pain.

"Fire! Fire!" it cried out, "The fire is burning me!"

A series of clicking sounds echoed in the forest where the fluorescent spell hadn't reached. Two smaller eight-eyed giant spiders rushed out from behind a tree. They grabbed their burning companion, but instead of trying to save it, they tore it apart!

A large group of spiders, some as small as a human fist and others as large as a hunting dog, rushed out of the forest and gleefully devoured the corpses of their companions, the whole forest filled with the crunching sounds of chewing.

Meanwhile, some enormous eight-eyed spiders slowly emerged from the forest, surrounding the young wizard. They excitedly moved their large claws, as if anticipating a feast.

……

In the stands, most of the spectators who witnessed this scene turned pale, especially some of the young Hogwarts wizards who had once wanted to venture into the Forbidden Forest, who were so frightened that their legs went weak.

"Keeping...keeping so many giant eight-eyed spiders...is that illegal...?"

A young, brown-haired wizard stammered.

"Oh, the creatures in the Forbidden Forest all evolved naturally."

"We've always been troubled by the presence of such a large group of dangerous species so close to the school," said Kettleburn, a retired professor of conservation of magical creatures, with a smile.

Young wizard: "..." Liar! Dumbledore can't handle this bunch of beasts?
"Can that child handle it? I see there are so many of these giant eight-eyed spiders." A Bulgarian wizard turned to the person next to him and said, "What if he gets eliminated right at the beginning?"

“That kid is Wade Grey from Hogwarts,” another person said. “He’s one of the most promising contenders for the championship.”

"Damn it!" someone exclaimed, slamming their fist down. "Who would have thought Wade Gray would be the first to be eliminated? I should have bet on someone else!"

Ferdinand gripped Fiona's hand tightly, his voice trembling, "Don't worry... there are professors patrolling the Forbidden Forest... Wade will be alright..."

……

"A human! A little human wizard!"

"He used fire! That wretched fire!"

"Kill him!" "Eat him! Eat him!"

The spiders roared angrily and approached Wade in the middle step by step, but they were slow because they were afraid of the flames.

Originally, the eight-eyed giant spider did not have the weakness of being afraid of fire, at least not to the point of being terrified of it.

But ever since they were nearly burned to death on a dark night, flames have become synonymous with death in the simple minds of these spiders.

Even though the little wizard in front of them looked tender and delicious, and was also very weak, the spiders were somewhat afraid of him because he could unleash fire.

Suddenly, a giant spider throbbed its abdomen and spurted out a thick, sticky liquid. The little wizard in front of him simply waved his wand and flicked the liquid away.

"Only to this extent?"

Wade was somewhat disappointed. He glanced at the bluebird flying nearby out of the corner of his eye and sighed softly to himself.
"I'm sorry, Hagrid."

I don’t know if Hagrid is watching the live stream, but anyway… even if he’s heartbroken and cries while hugging Yaya, Wade can’t hold back any longer.

But to be honest, Wade felt he would never understand Hagrid's fascination with the eight-eyed giant spider.

As the surrounding spiders, inspired, began spraying him with venom and silk, Vader gave a soft shout and swept his wand across!

"The flames are blazing!"

A streak of blue flame, mixed with gold and red, burst forth from the tip of the staff, swirling like a fire dragon and sweeping forward!

Vader's fire spells were once taught by Dumbledore and even personally instructed by Grindelwald. Even a simple "Blazing Flame" could play an extraordinary role in his hands.

The extremely hot flames, centered on Vader, instantly engulfed everything around him and rapidly expanded outwards. The giant spiders only had time to let out a sharp screech before their eyes burst open one by one in the intense heat, and they were then burned to ashes.

The air was thick with the stench of burning grease, and black smoke rose in wisps through the forbidden forest, accompanied by occasional soft crackling sounds.

A dozen seconds later, the erupting flames abruptly disappeared, leaving the surrounding ground desolate. The spiders were burned to charred shells, still in the posture of struggling before their death.

Their remains continued to disintegrate in the residual heat, and a gust of wind blew by, instantly turning them into a pile of smoky ashes that scattered in all directions.

……

The audience fell silent for a moment.

Not long ago, people were worried about whether Wade Gray would be able to send a distress signal in time, but in the blink of an eye, all that was left in their sight was a seemingly frail boy.

Several Hufflepuff students suddenly covered their mouths, their faces turning pale; a dull thud echoed from the Ravenclaw stands as books fell to the ground, and some students even dropped their binoculars; after a brief moment of stunned silence, the Weasley brothers were the first to erupt in enthusiastic cheers from the Gryffindors.

The Slytherin stands were unusually quiet, with some people recalling their past conflicts with Wade Grey and suddenly feeling as if they had been given a second chance at life.

Scattered applause began to rise, gradually transforming into a deafening roar.
