Chapter 774
Small talk
Chapter 774 Small talk
When they returned to their room, Fred and George each had a large bump on their head.
Mrs. Weasley used some kind of magic; the red, shiny bag, about the size of a fist, made the two men's heads look like gourds.
When Hermione asked out of curiosity, Mrs. Weasley casually replied:
"Oh, that... I used the Inflation Charm. The Muggle cartoons you guys watch gave me some inspiration."
Wade clicked his tongue in surprise.
Because when Mrs. Weasley knocked on the two brothers, she didn't chant a spell or use a wand, yet she precisely limited the spell's effect to the swelling. This was an operation that seemed easy but actually required a lot of control.
So when Fred and George went upstairs, everyone in the hotel couldn't help but laugh, and a happy atmosphere filled the air.
The twins, however, remained calm and proud, holding their heads high. When a group of teenagers gathered in Wade's room, Fred even borrowed Ginny's handkerchief to tie a bow on the bump on his head.
"There's no way around it, the love from a mother is just that heavy."
After carefully adjusting the position of the bow in front of the mirror, he said this.
Then George took over Fred's spot, holding a pen and gesturing at the bag on his head.
“What do you want to do, George!” Ginny asked, her lips twitching.
“I’m going to draw facial features on it,” George said. “You can call this child Johnny!”
Ginny thought she had misheard: "...Johnny?!"
"Great idea!" Fred said excitedly, leaning against the side. "Then later, draw one for me too... I want to call her Flora!"
It looks like they could play with the bumps on their heads all day long.
Ginny turned her gaze away, pretending not to see their childish behavior.
There was no sign of house-elves in the hotel room.
Dobby believed he should be a surprise force, and he couldn't let anyone know that he had sent Wade the important spatial pencil case. So he hid himself and never showed himself until the time was right. Even Wade didn't know where he was hiding.
After pouring everyone a cup of coffee, Wade sat down and said regretfully:
"I'm so glad you could come. It's a pity that there are limited spots for the opening ceremony; even the judges can only invite a maximum of seven people. Otherwise, I would really like to bring you all in."
"Seriously, Wade, thanks, but please don't!"
Ron shrugged and said frankly, "I'd be happy to participate in Quidditch or a puppet competition. But an alchemy tournament is out of the question..."
He looked up and said helplessly, "Those symbols, magic script, complicated equations... I can't understand them at all! Even if I stare at them intently, I'll fall asleep in less than thirty seconds."
When a person achieves success in a certain area, it often has a radiating incentive effect on everyone around them.
Vader gained fame, money, and status through alchemy, and even had a significant impact on the entire magical world. Seeing this, his classmates naturally followed suit.
Even Ron, who disliked reading very much, borrowed several related books from the library for a while, preparing to delve into this magical alchemy.
Unfortunately, alchemy has a very high barrier to entry... extremely high... The ancient runes alone eliminate 90% of those who are enthusiastic about it. The remaining 10%, after studying various alchemical theories and taboos, memorizing the properties of materials, and attempting to create them themselves, only to experience repeated, inexplicable failures...
The vast majority will rationally choose to withdraw.
At this moment, Ron, who had given up before even finishing the first book, "A Simple Introduction to Ancient Magic Runes," wore an air of illiterate nonchalance and said:
"In contrast, I would rather visit Echo Alley in America, especially their Quidditch shops—I've heard that some of their stuff is completely different from ours."
Everyone laughed upon hearing this, except for Ginny, whose face showed a hint of regret.
The seven spots for Wade are held by Moody, Lupin, Michael, Harry, Hermione, Fred, and George.
The rest of the Weasley family had come to America for tourism purposes and had no intention of participating—although Arthur Weasley was actually quite interested, he was too embarrassed to ask the children for a spot.
Ginny genuinely enjoys alchemy, and she can even read some of the books.
But she was too young and didn't have much basic knowledge. Everyone assumed that bringing a little girl out was to broaden her horizons and buy her some pretty clothes and toys, and no one considered taking her to watch the alchemy competition.
Harry noticed the fleeting sadness on her face and said softly, "How about I ask Wade if I can give you my spot? I can't learn alchemy anyway... and I'd really like to visit the Quidditch shop in America."
Ginny was stunned. Her blue eyes widened as she looked into Harry's sincere eyes, and a strong and intense emotion instantly overwhelmed her.
A blush quickly spread across her cheeks, reaching her ears, and she asked softly, "W-why...did you give it to me?"
“You want to go, don’t you?” Harry said naturally.
He was a little impulsive when he spoke, but seeing Ginny's excited expression, which looked like she was about to burst into flames, he felt quite happy—thankfully, it wasn't just him being presumptuous and wanting to help.
Wade was telling Hermione about the backgrounds of the judges in the competition when Michael suddenly nudged his elbow.
He turned his head and saw Michael quickly give him a wink. He raised his eyebrows and a mischievous smile on his face.
Following Michael's gaze, Wade saw Ginny blushing and Harry looking down at her.
—I must say, this scene looks quite beautiful.
Under Harry's gaze, Ginny's voice trembled with nervousness. She hesitated for a moment, then shook her head and said:
“Thank you, Harry, but I can’t accept this… This is your opportunity; you should see and experience it for yourself. I… I hope that one day I can go in as an alchemist.”
Most importantly, if she gets in but Harry leaves, then the game won't be very interesting.
Without thinking much of it, Harry gave his shy little sister an encouraging smile, like an older brother:
"Then keep up the good work and study hard! You're so smart, even if you can't achieve the same things as Wade in the future, you'll definitely become a great alchemist!"
“Ah… um.” Ginny nodded. “I believe I can do it.”
She tried to force a smile, but for some reason, she felt a little lost at that moment.
