Chapter 229

Attack is Defense

Chapter 229 Attack is Defense
The Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom had undergone a huge change. Thick cushions were placed everywhere on the floor, and the clutter along the wall had been removed, leaving only a shelf filled with gauze and potions.

"I heard... this was filled in after Madam Pomfrey's strong protest."

Daphne reached out and touched the thick cushions, feeling a sense of relief.

"You all saw Potter's nose, right? I don't want to have a crooked nose like Professor Dumbledore in the future."

"I heard that Potter challenged the professor many times before he was beaten badly." Theodore Nott said, "If he surrenders in time, he will only suffer minor injuries at most."

Malfoy's pale face improved a little, and he showed an unconvinced expression again.

Everyone comforted each other and finally regained some confidence. Some students even checked nearby mats in advance to avoid bumping into the floor.

Suddenly, the door opened with a bang and the new professor strode in.

She walked to the front and waved her wand vigorously. All the cushions suddenly flew up. The students hurriedly dodged and watched the cushions fall to the wall and pile up.

Professor Abigail turned and looked at everyone, without a smile on her face.

"Madam Pomfrey thought you needed these things to avoid getting hurt. But in my class, only wimps and cravens request a bed."

"Anyone need it? Put your hands up!"

No one wanted to admit that they were cowards. Even some people were so scared that their legs were shaking, but they still forced themselves not to raise their hands.

After waiting for a while, Professor Abigail tapped her palm with her wand and said, "Well, you finally showed some courage."

Someone puffed out his chest slightly.

"I'm from Ilvermorny in the United States, and I've also been to the Ouagadou School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Africa. Many people say that Hogwarts is the best, so I took the initiative to find Dumbledore and apply to be your substitute teacher."

She wandered through the crowd and said, "But when I got here, I was disappointed! Most of you are weak--"

She looked at Daphne, who had a pale complexion.

"timid--"

His sharp gaze paused on Lisa's face.

"clumsy--"

Goyle and Crabbe stared at the new professor stupidly.

"hypocritical--"

Draco blushed.

"I used spells in a confused way, and I was so unfamiliar with my wand that I felt like it was a dog from the next town..."

Professor Abigail smiled sarcastically, "Seriously, are you really wizards? Or just a bunch of baboons with wands?"

She stopped casually in front of Anthony and asked sideways, "Do you think you are a wizard?"

Anthony's eyes were filled with anger, and he gritted his teeth and said, "Of course I am!"

"What's your name?" Professor Abigail asked.

"Anthony Goldstein!" Anthony cried.

"Okay, Goldstein." Professor Abigail gestured with her hand: "Then take out your wand and show me what you can do!"

After a pause, she added, "If you're scared, just give in and go find a mat over there to sleep on."

Anthony pursed his lips tightly, drew out his wand and walked to the front. The students around him made way for them.

"all--"

The boy had just raised the wand halfway when he flew out with a whoosh.

"Too slow!" Abigail said disdainfully, "Will the enemy wait for you to be ready?"

She pointed at a student at random: "What's your name?"

Michael took a deep breath, stepped forward and said, "Michael Corner."

Ten seconds later, Michael followed Anthony's lead.

"Go on," Abigail said lazily.

The students went up one after another and flew out in all kinds of strange postures. Most of them couldn't even finish the spell. Because of what Abigail said before, they gritted their teeth and held on, and couldn't even say the word of admitting defeat.

Some students' wands flew out of their hands, and the new professor mocked them harshly, saying that if they were in a real battle, they would have been killed by the enemy.

"But I'm not going to be an Auror in the future--" Blaise Zabini muttered, obviously feeling that it was a bit inappropriate for the professor to talk about fighting all the time.

"You know what?" Abigail held his head and sneered, "Most of those killed by dark wizards are ordinary, incompetent wizards like you."

Seeing those dark green, beast-like eyes up close, Zabini was so shocked that he was speechless.

Professor Abigail let him go and raised her voice, "Next!"

Vader came out.

At this moment, he was the only student in the classroom who had not been called out. Others, such as Malfoy, had been cursed away at least two or three times.

Seeing him, Professor Abigail smiled faintly and asked, "What's your name?"

"Ved Grey."

"Oh...you invented the Book of Friends." Professor Abigail's eyes also had a smile, and she said, "I like the look in your eyes - are you ready?"

Wade didn't waste any words. He raised his hand and cast a disarming spell, while dodging to the side.

He had seen it many times. This professor had no dueling etiquette at all. Many times he used words to distract the opponent's attention and then knocked the person down unexpectedly.

Even though she was facing second-year students whose magical abilities were far inferior to hers, she showed no intention of holding back and would even resort to sneak attacks and cheating.

Facing the accusations of the students, she did not feel embarrassed at all, but instead said - this is what a real duel is like! Gentlemen are dead, and only by any means can you survive!
Sure enough, as soon as Vader dodged, the red beam swept across where he had just stood and hit Goyle not far away.

The boy who was sitting on the ground with his hands covering his forehead suddenly opened his eyes wide and then fainted without a word.

Professor Abigail was not hit by the Disarming Spell either. She opened her eyes wide in surprise and said, "Are you kidding? A silent spell? Or did you recite the spell secretly?"

Naturally, Wade did not answer. He used the Shield Charm to block an incoming beam of light, then cast a Stunning Spell and watched it also bounce back from the invisible armor.

With a "bang", a hole the size of an eye appeared on the wall.

At the same time, another spell popped out and hit Pansy. The girl fell on her back on Malfoy, and the students ran away with their heads in their hands.

The two people in the middle of the classroom kept attacking each other, and the light of the spell flew in all directions. Even they themselves didn't know which direction the spell would be rebounded to, and the other students had no way to hide.

After being hit by the disarming spell for the third time, Terry scrambled to pick up his wand and shouted in despair: "It was clearly the two of them who were fighting, why are we the ones who are unlucky?"

"Run!"

Someone shouted, and everyone was as if pardoned. The student closest to the door opened it, then his legs were tied up by a leg-locking spell and he fell to the ground with a bang.

Malfoy pushed him away and rushed out with Pansy in tow. The whole classroom of students followed and fled. Except for the unconscious ones, in the blink of an eye, only Wade and the new professor were left.

"You use spells well... but I heard that your first two Defense Against the Dark Arts professors weren't very good."

Professor Abigail asked as she seemed to pay no attention to the escaping student, circling around looking for an opportunity to attack.

"I have a very responsible tutor," said Wade.

"If there's a chance, I'd like to meet you."

Professor Abigail said, shaking her wand rapidly. Wade immediately blocked the incoming spell, but suddenly stumbled.

Goyle's arm came across, becoming an unexpected obstacle. Wade stumbled and hadn't yet stood firm when his abdomen was hit by a hammer, and he flew out and hit the ground heavily.

"In a duel, a moment of carelessness can be fatal." Professor Abigail smiled and said, "It seems that your tutor forgot to teach you to pay attention to your surroundings when fighting."

"You too!" Wade said reluctantly.

A willow branch that had grown out of who knows when shook and pulled violently, and the professor, who was holding the magic wand, fell out and rolled twice on the ground before stopping.

"Good boy!"

Professor Abigail knelt on one knee and cast another spell in a handsome posture, but a roar suddenly exploded in her ears -

"Stop it!"

She looked up to see Madam Pomfrey standing in the open doorway, breathing heavily and her wand hand trembling slightly.

Her anger was so real that even Professor Abigail, who had a defiant smile on her face, couldn't help but avoid looking at her.

Several students were peeking from behind the school doctor, looking into the classroom nervously and excitedly.

Immediately afterwards, an angry roar exploded!
