Chapter 486
Sirius's Memory
Chapter 486 Sirius's Memory
Dumbledore was also very surprised by Sirius's sudden visit.
He had been about to go to sleep, wearing a soft bathrobe and a pointed velvet nightcap, when he saw Sirius, who was covered in mud, in his office.
"What happened?"
Dumbledore asked solemnly, with countless thoughts flashing through his mind in an instant.
Sirius sat across the table, his mouth drooping, his eyes full of worry as he said, "Harry just told me that he had a nightmare and his scar hurts."
Dumbledore: "..."
He put his fingers together, looked at Sirius, and after a moment's silence, he said, "Harry's scar hurts, which is really not a trivial matter... What kind of nightmare did he have?"
"He dreamed...he dreamed that Lockhart and Gal Trocca were being tortured. Harry said the dream was so vivid...it seemed like it was really happening."
Sirius frowned and said, "In fact, half an hour ago, I saw those two men walk into a house and never come out again. I believe what Harry saw was the truth."
Dumbledore looked at Sirius carefully for a while and said, "It's night now. It's normal for them to go into the house to rest and not go out. Why do you think there is a problem?"
"Because..." Sirius was stunned for a moment, then said, "Because they were led there by Wormtail, and that place was a trap... That house looked like it hadn't been lived in for a long time, there must be something wrong."
——But those two people are fugitives. Isn’t it normal for them to find an abandoned house to stay temporarily?
"I remember you followed Lockhart and the other man when they left in order to find Peddlefoot's whereabouts."
Dumbledore asked in a persuasive manner: "So you met Peter Pettigrew? You didn't catch him?"
"No." Sirius said angrily, "I finally found his trail, but he was meeting an accomplice. In order not to be discovered, I hid. Then those two guys disappeared right under my nose!"
Dumbledore sighed.
This state, which seems to make sense but subtly gives people a sense of nonsense, looks damn familiar.
"Relax, Sirius." Dumbledore drew out his wand and pointed it at the young wizard opposite him: "You are affected by Voldemort's Ignore Curse. I will remove it for you now."
——Voldemort?
Sirius thought confusedly: Isn't he dead?
Then he remembered what he had heard before, and was startled. An inexplicable fear spread from the bottom of his heart.
Just as Sirius was about to tell Voldemort's resurrection plan, he was completely engulfed by the light of the spell.
Voldemort was a master of curses, and the curses he cast with all his might were so complex and powerful that not even Dumbledore could break them.
For example, the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts has been replaced once a year or even twice a year for decades. Compared with professors of other subjects who can teach for decades, the frequency of replacement of this course is frighteningly high.
But the scope of this ignore spell is too wide, which invisibly dilutes the power of the curse and makes it easier to remove the curse. But even Dumbledore can't cast a counter-spell on everyone.
After Wade, Dumbledore successively removed the curse from Snape, Kingsley, Moody, Lupin and other members of the Order of the Phoenix. Sirius was still under the curse because he had been running outside.
After the curse was lifted, his groggy mind instantly became extremely clear, even clearer than usual.
The obscured memories were churning in my mind, even turning out some older things, as if a wall called "forgetfulness" was suddenly collapsed for a few seconds, and the dusty memories reappeared clearly before my eyes.
……
"Sirius, what are you doing here?" Regulus asked softly as he came out from behind the bookshelf.
"Obviously, read the book."
Sirius said lazily, suddenly throwing the book in his hand at his brother.
Regulus caught it and was stunned by the strange feeling.
The cover of the book has a slightly dark skin color, as if it is made of some special leather, and you can even see tiny pores if you look closely.
Sirius gave a wicked smile and said, "You know what? The book in your hand is made of human skin!"
He looked at his brother's face expectantly, expecting to see this "qualified member of the Black family" being so scared that he screamed and threw the book away, or even burst into tears.
But Regulus's performance was not that terrible. He just turned a little pale, then walked over and stuffed the book back on the shelf.
"Father says your detention is over, Sirius," Regulus said slowly, "but he's still angry. You'd better be careful."
Sirius didn't hear the worry in his words, he just thought he was conveying a warning from his parents.
So Sirius sneered, said nothing, pushed Regulus away with his shoulder, and walked out of the basement where he had been locked up for several days.
Regulus, who stayed behind, bumped into the bookshelf with a bang, rubbed his shoulders, lowered his head, and followed his brother out.
……
Sirius was lost in thought for a long while before he slowly began to recount everything that had happened before.
The bones of his father... the flesh of his servants... the blood of his enemies... resurrection... the content of Harry's nightmares...
He actually subconsciously wanted to conceal some parts of it, such as the strange perspective in Harry's dream, but in Dumbledore's eyes that seemed to see through everything, Sirius finally told him everything he knew without hiding anything.
Dumbledore stood up and paced back and forth in the office. After a moment, Dumbledore asked, "Are you sure that Wormtail called that man Barty?"
"Yes," said Sirius.
"Barty Crouch?" demanded Dumbledore.
"No... not Barty Crouch. I remember that guy's voice. They sound different." Sirius guessed, "Maybe someone else named Barty."
Dumbledore was silent for a moment. "Does that man's voice sound like Barty Crouch Jr.?"
"Barty Crouch Jr.? Isn't he dead?" Sirius asked in surprise.
He looked at Dumbledore and vaguely understood something: "That boy is several years younger than me. I don't have much impression of his voice... Maybe you can look in my memory."
He placed the tip of his wand against his temple and drew out a silver memory. The Pensieve that had been in the cupboard flew over and landed on the table in front of Sirius.
Dumbledore tapped his wand, and the thoughts in the basin began to spin. After a moment, a voice came from inside:
"You did well, Wormtail..."
