Chapter 585
I’m proud of you
Chapter 585 I’m proud of you
The wooden door of the Owlery creaked shut behind Harry, and the air smelled of hay and guano, with tiny bones strewn all over the floor.
The cold wind blew into the house through the glassless windows, making a whistling sound. Various kinds of owls were standing on the branches, some sleeping soundly, while others were staring at Harry, the uninvited guest, as if monitoring his every move.
Cedric was feeding a strip of meat to an owl that was much taller than the other birds, and when he heard the sound, he turned his head.
"Harry?"
Cedric threw the remaining strips of meat to his owl, straightened up and asked, "You said it was an emergency?"
Harry suddenly realized that Cedric's robe was open, and he was wearing a grey sweater underneath. His figure looked particularly tall and straight, and Harry, who was much shorter, looked more like an underage child.
"right……"
Harry subconsciously stepped back, distanced himself, and glanced at the owl that was devouring its food. He said, "I want to tell you that the first project is the dragons. There are seven of them, all of them are adult dragons."
The smile on Cedric's face froze. He stared at Harry blankly. His grey eyes were first confused, then slowly filled with fear. His pupils contracted and his Adam's apple rolled up and down.
"Fire dragon?" Cedric asked softly, "Are you sure?"
At this moment, his breathing became suppressed and trembling.
Harry nodded, and the tightness in his chest miraculously eased a little.
——It turns out he’s not the only one who’s afraid!
Harry took a deep breath and said, "Absolutely sure."
He counted on his fingers: "Hungarian Horntail, Chinese Fireball, Swedish Short-nosed Dragon, Welsh Green Dragon, Scottish Black Dragon, Romanian Longhorn Dragon, Ukrainian Iron Belly, I saw them all with my own eyes."
A cold wind blew in through the window, ruffling Cedric's hair and making his head look disheveled.
Cedric pulled his robe tighter and buttoned it, took a few deep breaths, and then sneezed at the smell of the Owlery.
He rubbed his nose, smiled bitterly and said, "Well, Dragon... I won't ask you how you found out, because we're not supposed to know... But Harry, why did you tell me?"
"Everyone knows it, except you." Harry said honestly, "I can't watch you face those big guys defenselessly."
Cedric: "...You know everything?"
"Yes." Harry added, "This morning, all the books about dragons in the library have been checked out."
The shed fell into silence, with only the occasional sound of an owl flapping its wings. Cedric stared at an owl in front of him with a dazed look in his eyes.
"Wade still has some books. He said he was willing to share the information with us. If you want to borrow any information, go to the Umbrella House to find Wade - do you know the address of the Umbrella House?" Harry asked.
Cedric nodded slowly and said, "Theo told me about this before."
"That's good... I'll go back first."
Harry walked towards the door, his hand on the rusty doorknob, and heard Cedric behind him suddenly say, "Thank you, Harry."
He turned around and saw Cedric smiling and saying, "If you hadn't told me this news, I might have been eliminated in the first round... Thank you very much."
His voice had regained about 70% of its normal state and he seemed to have calmed down.
Harry smiled, waved his hand and said, "Wish us good luck... We must survive tomorrow!"
……
The blue curtains of the dormitory hung down along the windows. Wade sat in an armchair, the quill in his hand rustling. At the same time, he wore a communication pea in his ear, and his mother's voice came from it:
"The competition will start tomorrow, right? Hasn't the school told you what the first event is?" "No." Wade said calmly, "No matter what it is, I have a way to deal with it. Don't worry."
"Then I'll wait and see your heroic figure on the mirror." Fiona smiled and said, "I'll always pray for you."
"Rest early." Ferdinand reminded: "Make sure you are in good condition when you go on the court tomorrow. Don't eat too much in the morning, don't drink too much water, and bring a few pieces of chocolate with you to replenish your energy."
"I know." Wade smiled and said, "You said the same thing when I took the exam before."
He chatted casually with his parents for a few more minutes and ended the call when they urged him to go to bed.
Wade did not tell his parents or anyone else about the fire dragon, so as not to worry them and to save himself the trouble of comforting others.
In fact, Wade was not worried at all, but it was difficult for him to convey his certainty and confidence to others.
……
On Tuesday morning, the atmosphere in the whole school was very tense and excited. Because of the large number of participants, the school was suspended early in the morning, and students could go to the competition venue after breakfast.
Wade walked into the auditorium to eat breakfast at his usual time. Many people greeted Wade as they passed by:
"Come on, Gray!"
"Good luck in the competition!"
"Good luck!"
As soon as Weider finished his breakfast, Professor Flitwick hurried over to him.
"Have you eaten yet? Very good, come with me after you finish eating - the warriors are going to a different place than the audience."
Weed stood up and left the hall with Professor Flitwick. They walked around the edge of the Forbidden Forest and headed towards where the dragon was.
The students followed the signs on the road and walked along another path towards an exceptionally tall building.
It was a makeshift stand. It didn't exist last night when Vader turned into a peregrine falcon to scout. A few hours later, it had been erected from the ground by magic.
The noisy sound forced all creatures in the Forbidden Forest to stay away from the vicinity. The quiet shadows of the trees swayed in the wind, making Professor Flitwick's voice seem extremely quiet.
"Ved, I assume you already know what the first project is?"
"Yes," said Vader.
"Are you scared?"
"good."
Professor Flitwick looked up at Wade's expression, as if worried that he was just holding on.
Then, he said gently and sincerely: "Ved, although I hope you can win honor for the academy, I hope you can protect yourself more and return safely."
"I will, Professor." Wade smiled, "I am fully prepared and will not let you down."
"Remember, no matter what happens, keeping a cool head is the most important thing." Professor Flitwick added: "If you feel nervous and scared, take a deep breath and relax yourself..."
There was a tall tent in front of them, and Harry was standing at the door looking out.
"Go ahead, kid..." Professor Flitwick patted Wade's arm and said, "I've always been proud of you."
